Great White and Slaughter Elecrtify Hard Rock Live in Wheatland, CA
The iconic band GREAT WHITE brought their highly anticipated BITE DOWN HARD tour to Hard Rock Live in Wheatland, California Thursday, January 18, 2024. The band, now fronted by Alabama's uber-talented BRETT CARLISLE, delivered a performance that not only paid homage to their iconic 1980s sound but also showcased a renewed energy that resonated with both longtime fans and new audiences.
CARLISLE, proved to be perfect fit. At first I was skeptical that he would be able to deliver the songs I hold so near and dear to my heart. But he blew me away with how effortlessly he captured the essence of Great White's classic hits, making them sound as authentic and powerful as they did during the 1980's. CARLISLE'S stage presence and charisma added a fresh dynamic to the performance, seamlessly blending with the rest of the band. CARLISLE utilized the stage, making sure every fan in the house connected with his energy.
The band's ability to continually breathe new life into their timeless tracks while maintaining the nostalgic vibe just shows fans their enduring musical prowess. Hard Rock Live is one of my favorite venues to take pictures in and the atmosphere that night was absolutely electric, with the crowd singing along to every word and enthusiastically responding to the synergy on stage. The chemistry between the band members was palpable, creating a sense of unity that transcended generations of fans. From the powerful guitar riffs of MARK KENDALL, AUDIE DESBROW's high energy drumming, to the soulful ballads, Great White's performance was a rollercoaster of emotions, leaving the audience craving more. Yes, Great White's 2024 BITE DOWN HARD tour secures the band's status as rock legends, without question.
For both devoted followers and those experiencing Great White live for the first time, this tour promises an unforgettable musical journey that bridges the past and the present.
Did I mention yet that the concert opened with legendary band SLAUGHTER?! No? Oh, well it did. And I was there for it.
SLAUGHTER, known for such classic tunes as “Up All Night” and “Real Love” started the night with Mad About You and Burning Bridges, two of my favorite songs. And you cannot deny that MARK SLAUGHTER is as charismatic and energetic as he’s always been and his vocals are nothing short of amazing. Add into the mix the hard guitar solos and solid rhythm section and SLAUGHTER’S intense live show had me transported back in time. Finally, like GREAT WHITE, SLAUGHTER interacted with the audience, tossing guitar picks into the crowd and encouraging them to sing along. So, whether you are a devoted fan or a first-time listener, you were completely immersed in the SLAUGHTER experience and what it truly means to Rock On.
